NFL Playoffs: Bears Host Packers In NFC Championship
For the first time since 1941, the storied Midwestern rivalry between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers will add a new chapter in the setting known as the NFL playoffs. Both franchises have battled with each other since 1921, when straw hats were in fashion and drinking beer in any setting, let alone at a game, would have gotten you thrown in prison.
However, with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers smoking the Falcons secondary last night for 366 yards and three touchdowns coupled with Bears quarterback Jay Cutler making mincemeat of the Seahawks secondary by scoring four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing), the date was set for both quarterbacks and their respective teams to meet at Chicago's Soldier Field next Sunday to decide who will represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, TX.
Both teams have not faced each other in a playoff setting since 1941, when Sid Luckman was the QB for Chicago. In the 'Super Bowl Era,' the Packers have won three Super Bowls and the Bears one.
